City By Storm – Sleeping With The Devil *Alternative/Punk Rock

October 8th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Rock |

Shout out to Lauren from Hungry Mind Entertainment for telling me about City By Storm an Alternative & Punk band from the OC with a sound that reminds me of Rise Against but less hard rock.

My favorite City By Storm track is “Sleeping With The Devil”, I’m more a fan of the upbeat rocking instrumentals than lyrics about sleeping with the devil, but if you can get around that or enjoy that, then you will really like this song. Here’s “Sleeping With The Devil”.

So were less than one month away to the first-ever Orange County Pacific Festival on August 13, 2011. Here’s a cool Pacific Festival trailer to watch that has more info on the event.

Some of the notable acts performing include Snoop Dogg, Cut Copy, Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, Ghostland Observatory, Phantogram, toro y moi, Bag Raiders, and many more! Buy tickets here.

I am so excited for the Pacific Festival that I decided to make a 25-track mixtape with my favorite songs from many of the artists performing on August 13, 2011 in Orange County, California.

The Steelwells live at The Roxy

May 9th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Before Bigs Exclusive, Concert/Festival Review, Music Video, Reviews, Rock |

Talk about talent. Saturday night I was fortunate enough to see Southern California indie rockers The Steelwells and The Silent Comedy at The Roxy Los Angeles. I knew and heard very little from each artist and left with my hands red from all the clapping I did, continually feeling so grateful to witness great performances from these artists who have easily become two of my favorite SoCal rock groups. Here’s my review on The Steelwells:

The Steelwells came out with three different band members playing some drums, which was unusual at first, but made their music sound so epic as they had some excellent build-ups in almost all their songs. Listening to the songs on a computer really doesn’t do justice on how talented and enjoyable their music is. I wished their set was a bit longer as I want to hear a lot more from this group. However, here’s 3 of my favorites from the group.
The Steelwells – This Dance Is Out Of Your Hands
The Steelwells – El Capitan
The Steelwells – Our Fabled Little Rabbits
If you like the above songs, I recommend downloading their album, Shallow On The Draft. Below watch the official music video to their album single “El Capitan” and make sure to follow The Steelwells on facebook and twitter. (more…)
