Video: Yury – Worry *chill rap

November 4th, 2013 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Pittsburgh rapper Yury released his new video “Worry” directed by Bill Paladino.  Bill has been the primary videographer for Wiz Khalifa for years and shot his world tour and Black & Yellow.  Bill has joined the iamYURY team because he sees the vision that Yury has.

Here’s an exclusive direct quote from Yury about the song:

The theme is that stress and worrying don’t really solve much. Life is exponentially complicated so you can approach that one of two ways, negatively or positively. I want viewers to get really introspective. Really take a step back and question why they do what they do, or why they don’t do what they want to do.

Introducing Yury *Pittsburgh rapper

June 12th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

Yury is a rapper/producer from Pittsburgh who works closely with Big Jerm and E.Dan of I.D. Labs fame, producers behind Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller’s success. Yury is a hip-hop artist who blends electro aspects in his latest mixtape with his music video of the project, “Landing on Stars”. This dude has some real potential, if not for the production behind his music, then for his lyricism, which is pretty solid and only looks to get better.

The Come Up – In Good Hands (Mixtape)

June 25th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Thanks to Oh So Fresh! Music and Mostly Junkfood for introducing me to The Come Up, a side-project/collaboration from Franchise and Vinny Radio of The 58s. The mixtape, In Good Hands, is 12 tracks of super smooth Pittsburgh hip-hop, entirely produced by Big Jerm of ID Labs. Everyone’s been saying it, but Pittsburgh is becoming the next big hip-hop hot spot, and these guys are a big part of it. Some of my favorite tracks from the mixtape are:

The Come Up – In Good Hands (feat. Heather Victoria)

The Come Up – In An Instant

The 58s – The 58s (Mixtape)

May 23rd, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

Who would’ve thought Pittsburgh would be a mecca of hip-hop? The 58s are the latest group to come out of the Steel City, and their debut, self-titled mixtape is a seriously impressive body of work. The collective, consisting of B.White, Franchise, Vinny Radio, Ghosty, Mayo, and Primavera Vills, are an eclectic bunch. The songs range from weed smoking chill-outs to more street songs, all maintaining a real original, old school sound.

Each lyricist shines throughout the tape and the beats are produced by many of the area’s great producers, including Big Jerm and Khrysis. Some highlights from the tape include:

“The Formula”

This mixtape is seriously awesome and definitely a must download. You can get it off datpiff. When you’re done, follow The 58s on Facebook and Twitter.

Official Music Video: Mac Miller – “Wear My Hat”

I think it’s safe to say that Mac Miller is now considered a very successful and mainstream hip-hop artist (even though he hasn’t released his debut album yet). He has been touring all over the place the last 6 months or so, selling out all of his shows and coming out with awesome new tracks in the process. Pittsburgh has really carved themselves into a hip-hop mecca that is only getting better.

Anyway, above is the official music video to “Wear My Hat”. I won’t lie, this is not my favorite song of his but the visuals are awesome with attractive women in it as always. This video was once again directed by Rex Arrow and he never disappoints with his film work. Keep up the great work Mac, you are only getting bigger and better. Enjoy!

Mac Miller – “Talk About”

April 29th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Mac Miller returns with yet another awesome and very relaxing hip-hop track. It’s called “Talk About” and it’s about exactly what the title of the song entail, talking about what to rap about. This kid has done some big things already in the past year and he is only getting more popular and more talented. I look forward to the release of his debut album this summer. Enjoy!

Mac Miller Releases A “Fralbum”

March 14th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

As many of you already know, Mac Miller dropped his newest project, Best Day Ever, last Friday which he calls a “Fralbum” meaning a free album. I am a big fan of Mac Miller and have really enjoyed listening to this album so far. He shows lots of versatility in his tracks as he does a great job of rapping over any type of beat. “Donald Trump” is amazing and the visuals are great as well which you can view here. My three favorites besides that one of course are “Get Up!”, “All Around The World”, and “Life Ain’t Easy”. Listen to these tracks below and download the entire “fralbum”

Mac Miller – “Donald Trump” (Prod. Sap)

February 9th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Early this morning, Mac Miller dropped his first single off his upcoming mixtape, Best Day Ever, which drops on March 11th. It’s called “Donald Trump” and it’s straight fire. Mac Miller has really matured as an artist over the last year or so and he is only getting better. He is the reason why white rappers are becoming much more relevant in the hip-hop world and I look forward to March 11th when his mixtape drops. Sap does a great job on the boards producing this awesome track. Enjoy!

Wiz Khalifa – Roll Up (Prod. Stargate)

January 28th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

Another new Wiz Khalifa track. The third single known as “Roll Up” is off his upcoming debut album, Rolling Papers, set to drop on March 29th. This is another “pop” sounding song which Pittsburgh’s finest has been experimenting with quite a bit recently. Though it sounds quite different than the majority of his other tracks, I love it a lot. He is trying to expand his fan base far beyond just the stoner college kids and he’s doing a great job at it. This track was produced by Stargate. Enjoy!

Wiz Khalifa – [Big Screen x I Ain’t Them (featuring Poetic)]

January 23rd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

It seems like Wiz Khalifa pumps out new songs everyday. Today he released “Big Screen” which he raps in autotune. I never expected Wiz to make a song like T-Pain or Lil Wayne but it is actually quite catchy. He also dropped “I Ain’t Them” (featuring Poetic) a couple of days ago which has the typical laid back feel he is used to making in his music. It also introduced me to a young talented rapper, Poetic,  from New York that I was unaware until this song came out. Enjoy!
