Video: PK – Chase The Sky

November 19th, 2012 by | Music Video, Rock |

Pop-Rock quintet PK returns with a new music video, exclusively premiered on Fuse TV. “Chase The Sky” comes from their The Lost Boys Sessions EP and the video features the group rocking out in a sweaty club. Painted in black in white, there is no loss of comprehending just how much energy these guys bring to the stage – and just how satisfied their fans are because of it.

PK will be at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco this Saturday, Nov. 24.

Video+Download: PK – Some Nights *Buzzworthy

August 16th, 2012 by | Music Video, Rock |

Rock group PK is back with another video, “Some Nights”. This is a band we’ve been following for over 2 years at which point we felt their sound had mainstream potential and featured them on our first edition of Best You Never Heard.

With “Some Nights” premiering on MTV, we feel they finally have made it! This video should help PK launch into a full US tour as they’ve slowly been expanding out of the West Coast with shows and we couldn’t be more excited for what they got in store for us.

PK @ The Roxy, 6/15

“I don’t like the parking in this town!” singer, Travis Hawley, joked to the crowd. Playing their first show at The Roxy in Hollywood (and overall second gig in Tinsel Town), the San Luis Obispo based PK was more than ready to rock the legendary venue. The crowd was so exhilarated just at the sight of these hunks, Travis really could have said anything and they’d go wild. (more…)

PK @ The Roxy Friday, 6/15

June 13th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie |

The handsome (and talented) fellas of PK are knee deep in their west coast tour in honor of their EP release, The Lost Boys Sessions, this past May. This Friday, June 15, PK will be gracing The Roxy with their undeniably catchy tunes! Sure, sure they’ve got some of The Killers rhythm and one can really compare them to whichever alt-rock meets indie band but what is setting PK apart is their everlasting energy, eccentricities and delicate balance of pop-y ballads.

This show is all ages and $12 at the door. Snag the The Lost Boys Sessions EP + ticket bundle for just $17 in this bundle. For more information, RSVP to the show on Facebook!

Review: PK live at The Mint

January 24th, 2012 by | Concert/Festival Review, Rock |

Last Friday, I saw PK rock out at The Mint in West Los Angeles. The Mint is an intimate bar/nightclub and with around 75 people at the show, so this picture wasn’t taken from the show I attended.

PK didn’t disappoint and was probably one of my favorite indie rock acts I have seen live! I highly recommend catching them in concert if they are in your area as they make upbeat indie rock, jamming out with three guitarists and a lead singer with unique vocals to take them to the top.

PK is probably a song placement away from becoming a mainstream hit, I enjoyed just about every song they did live and hope recommend you listen to all their music and support like/follow them on facebook and twitter. Here’s my favorite song which they ended the night with, “London”, which we featured on our 1st edition of Best You Never Heard back in September 2010!

I hate leaving you with only one song from the band, so here’s their latest song, “Not In Love”, a cover of the original from Crystal Castles/Robert Smith.

PK – Seawolves x Berelain *emerging indie rock band

December 8th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Music Video, Rock |

PK is back with two new tracks they released in the last month, with “Seawolves” being released only days ago. If you have only been recently following BtB, then you probably don’t know that PK’s “London” was featured on our first edition of Best You Never Heard, released back in September 2010.

Anyways, I love the upbeat rock sound of PK, it reminds me of the early sounds of The Killers, before they released Sam’s Town back in 2006. Here’s “Seawolves” and “Berelain”, not sure which I like more as they both have catchy vocals and upbeat fun rock sounds.

Covers by Collin McLoughlin, PK, Mat Musto, My Double My Brother & Eric Holljes

June 11th, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Pop, R&B, Rock |

Five covers that take the original song and turn it into a more acoustic turn with emphasis on vocals and rock and/or pop instrumentals including a tiny bit folk maybe. Anyway time for familiar songs covered by awesomely talented artists.

First is Collin McLoughlin who I am always on the fence with. Some of his songs I really like and others are boring to me. However in doing an acoustic cover of Swedish House Mafia‘s “Save The World Tonight”, I look forward to more from Collin and can’t wait for some original tracks from the R&B/pop artist.

Next we go with a group who had a great song in 2010 with “London” which we featured on BYNH 1 last summer. Recently PK did a cover of Kid Cudi‘s “Up Up and Away”. It’s got a chill acoustic indie rock melody and I mostly like it because they are covering Cudders! I pulled the audio from a video they did of the cover so the quality isn’t top-notch. Watch the music video on youtube.

We featured Mat Musto on here for the first time earlier this month. Recently he dropped a cover to Lady Gaga‘s latest hit, “Born This Way”. Musto goes real chill acoustic here, which is really cool since Lady Gaga is almost the opposite with her upbeat radio-friendly pop tracks.

A cover of Phoenix… fuck yes, sign me up! At the time the band who did this cover was called The Fragrance but has since changed their name to My Double, My Brother. I like this indie rock version, still a bigger fan of the original but a cover/remix/mashup or whatever using Phoenix is awesome! Here’s the video of My Double, My Brother performing it live.

Last track is the slowest, shows tons of talent and is a cover to an artist who was one of my favorites, Mike Posner. Anyways, Eric Holljes, who recorded several tracks with Posner while he was at Duke and who also is in Delta Rae, has tremendous talent. I’m surprised it took him this long to do the cover of this song but maybe he wanted to wait til the radio stopped playing the Gilgamesh remix of Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me”.

The mix is 25 songs released this summer (May-August), by artists who haven’t released a debut album yet. The only exception is “All Summer” by Kid Cudi, Best Coast and Vampire Weekend because that’s one of the best songs released this summer.
