Mike Posner – The Scientist (Coldplay cover/remix)

May 19th, 2011 by | Pop |

Mike Posner just dropped a new track to SITR which is a cover/remix of the Coldplay classic, “The Scientist. Basically Posner stripped the song of the slow instrumentals that played well with the amazing vocals of Chris Martin and turned “The Scientist” into something new, different and fresh for today’s music standards, synthesized vocals with electronic/dance type upbeat instrumentals.
Mike Posner – The Scientist (produced by Mike Posner)
I’m not sure which I like more the original or the cover, as they both have different flavors. However, knowing that Mike Posner produced this really is awesome as I think that’s one of his greatest assets.

I’m torn on my feelings with Mike Posner. I have seen him perform twice, met him briefly once, thought his mixtapes were incredible, must downloads! Then was let down by his debut album taking the safe route with a typical R&B release. Then Posner gets Lil Wayne to rap over a song and do a music video with him, furthering my disgust for Posner and the record label for possibly forcing him to do this. Then today he comes out with a cover/remix to one of my favorite Coldplay songs, “The Scientist”. Let me know your thoughts on Mike Posner in the comments or on twitter.

Here’s a video of Maestro Knows with Mike Posner, you can see Mike Posner making the song above around the 7 minute mark. (more…)

Hidden Gem: Silver Medallion *electronic pop hop

May 19th, 2011 by | Electropop, Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

It’s been too long since I finally started blogging about this group and it’s not because of their latest music video, “Blackmail” although that’s a quality sample/remix of another song I really like.

Silver Medallion is a electro/hip-pop artist with a variety of sounds to form a new sound. Some of his songs are solid while others are really good. So far I have enjoyed many of their latest songs and below have put my three favorites.

“Blackmail”, featuring LA Boys Noize collaborator and Dip Dive artist Dame Fifty5 samples/covers/remixes Phantogram‘s “When I’m Small”. The song debuts a new sound for Silver Medallion and will be featured on their upcoming upcoming indie rock mixtape.

Next are two older tracks that have caught my ear that I consider their best original tracks.

If you like Silver Medallion let us know and we will be sure to bring you more. Music video to “Blackmail” plus a little description on it after the jump. (more…)

Childish Gambino update – new song, mixtape + mashup/remix

April 7th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Mashup, Remix |

Childish Gambino releases so much free music and when he does, we get the remix/mashup effect with everybody doing a remix or using a song of his in a mashup. Recently Childish Gambino did a cover/remix of Kanye West’s classic “All of the Lights”. I like the mix of singing and rapping.

Last week Childish Gambino dropped a compilation mixtape of new and old songs, I Do Not Talk. While the mixtape has some really good songs, I wouldn’t consider any of them to be memorable tracks. However it is worth downloading and here’s a few reasons why.
Childish Gambino – So Much Better
Childish Gambino – Hollerin
Childish Gambino – For Your Love Freestyle (Bonus)
Read more for a smooth mashup and a remix using Childish Gambino that mixes in a variety of instrumentals. (more…)

All of the Lights music *Delta Rae, Lil Wayne Big Sean Drake, Play N Skillz

I know I posted the above video already but it’s such an epic song and the video can be described in the same light plus it recently got deemed unsafe for people with epilepsy which I’m not surprised by. It happened to a video by Gnarls Barkley.

Anyways after watching the video, I got a few “All of the Lights” songs for you including one with Lil Wayne, Big Sean and Drake rapping to the beat, then Play N Skillz create a slowed up electronic pop hop cover/remix.

All Of The Lights (rmx) f. Big Sean, Drake & Lil Wayne

However I saved the best for last with a rocking cover of “All Of The Lights” that I absolutely love. Folk/Soul/Pop band Delta Rae captures the power of the original but takes it into a more acoustic rock direction. Follow Delta Rae on facebook and twitter if you like the cover below. I think Kanye would give a standing ovation to this song.
