Western MA emcee Reese McFly is truly a jack of all trades, this dude has some deep lyrics backed up with a smooth, on point flow. Reese recently released his first official album “Boy Meets World”. This album takes samples from the commonly loved 90’s television series “Boy Meets World”. From first hand experience I can say that Reese McFly can really keep a crowd going and is overall and magnificent performer and all around musician.

Reese is all about the fans, he loves the people who support his music and have assisted him on his journey to rise to the top.  Reese McFly has the potential and the motivation to make it somewhere in the world of Hip-hop. Kinetics & One Love remixes – Video Games x If I Die Young

October 20th, 2011 by | Remix |

Kinetics & One Love remix Lana Del Rey‘s “Video Games,” the latest installment of their mashup/remix album Cross-Fading Back to Normal. The full project will soon be available as a free download so watch out for that.

Lana Del Rey – Video Games (Remix ft. Kinetics & One Love)

Here’s a little bit of an older track, but still a jam. I don’t quite know why, but for some reason, the sample of “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry sounds great with almost anyone’s voice.

Huey Mack – Alive

October 2nd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

A sweet track from Huey Mack, with a nice sample to bring a cool, laid back feel to challenge Huey’s smooth rapping. With Huey reflecting on his life, he shows a side that I’ve never seen. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Hi-Rez – A Walk to Remember (Mixtape)

September 26th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Mixtape Monday |

Hi-Rez dropped an INCREDIBLE new mixtape recently. On first listen, I’ve already fallen in love, incredible beats, with some great lyricism and smooth verses. An all around great project from the 17 year old rapper from the Sunshine State.

I would reccommend listening to “Puppy Love” and “It Was Never Easy” (my personal favorites). Pay attention to all the samples throughout this mixtape, some pretty interesting stuff.

G-Eazy – The Endless Summer (mixtape)

August 26th, 2011 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

On August 9, G-Eazy released The Endless Summer (DOWNLOAD). He gets many talented artists featured on the project including Sonny Shotz, Skizzy Mars and KAM Royal. Here’s what G-Eazy had to say about the project:

I sampled primarily doo-wop and rock records from the late 50s early 60s on here, to give it a vintage sound, however I wanted to modernize it by mashing it up with hip-hop drums.

Listen and download G-Eazy‘s latest mixtape, The Endless Summer, below. This is a MUST-DOWNLOAD project as almost every song has this chill-hop vibe that sounds retro with the sampling but new with the rapping and other instrumentals in the production.

Kenton Dunson – Top Of The World (Passion Pit sample)

August 16th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B |

As most of you know, whenever you talk to me and mention Passion Pit, one of the first things I usually say is “I love Passion Pit!”. So whenever I hear a sample or remix of Passion Pit, I usually jump on the song and enjoy it. Kenton Dunson took a dope Passion Pit song to make “Top Of The World”. After making a real quality mixtape/album with Creative Destruction 2, his first song since then is real chill with a dope sample. Well done Kenton, only big things lie ahead for the hip-hop/R&B artist.

G-Eazy – “Run” ft. Team Robot x “Well Known” ft. KAM Royal

July 12th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

A little late on the newest jams from G-Eazy. Been banging these two songs within the last two weeks and finally found some time to blog about his two latest songs. Once again, he has the dope yet subtle sampling where it doesn’t take away from his solid flow. G-Eazy continues to stand out among the many rappers out there and getting Team Robot and KAM Royal on these tracks only enhances the quality.

Sampled Saturday *Justin W, Matt Clarke, Nicky Rage, Upper West, Warm Brew

July 2nd, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Sampled Saturday |

Another edition of Sampled Saturday and this week we got samples ranging from Britney Spears, Tom Petty, Avicii, Peter Pan and Billy Preaston.

First Justin W mixes up Britney Spears latest hit, rapping over a dubstep beat with some vocals riffs from Spears. Overall this is one of my favorites from Justin W and his production and rap skills seem to improve with each new song.
Justin W – It Never Ends (freestyle)
Next we go to Boston rapper Matt Clarke with “Free Fallin”. This is produced by Plan Z, rapping is alright but I mostly enjoy this song because of the chill Tom Petty sample. “Free Fallin” is off Clarke’s latest mixtape, Blank Check (DOWNLOAD).
Matt Clarke – Free Fallin (Prod. by Plan Z)
Avicii sample, I couldn’t refuse posting this. This is the only song from Nicky Rage that I like and that’s solely because of the Avicii beat. It’s banging and the rap added to it doesn’t take away much from the beat.
Nicky Rage – Summertime Feelin’
Next comes probably the best sample using a song from Peter Pan! Love Upper West‘s creativity with the sample. “I Won’t Grow Up” from Upper West reminds me of Fortune Family and I look forward to more from the group.
Upper West – I Won’t Grow Up
Lastly comes a Billy Preaston sample. “Nothin From Nothin” comes from LA hip-hop group Warm Brew who has a chill flow. This is probably my favorite from the group and off their last project, Warm Brew EP (DOWNLOAD).

Eddy B & Tim Gunter – Just Another Day

June 19th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Once again, Eddy B & Tim Gunter knock it out of the park with “Just Another Day”. Seriously if these guys opened for Chiddy Bang, easily could see them having similar popularity. Loving the Starfucker sample as “Just Another Day” becomes a dope summer anthem and their newest single off their upcoming Overseas EP, cannot wait for that!
