Exclusive: Video Interview with Shwayze & Cisco

November 26th, 2011 by | Before Bigs Exclusive, Concert/Festival Review, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, Reviews |

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while but I have a treat for you here. 10 days ago, Shwayze & Cisco rolled through my hometown of Fort Collins, CO. The whole family over at BananaBeat Records was super chill, and gave me an hour or so to come kick it and ask them a few questions. We even test drove a new game they showed me, ‘Bust-a-Rhyme’ (shown in video).

The show was incredible. With support from G-Eazy, ModSun, & Cobraconda it would have been tough not to enjoy this show. Whether you’ve been sipping a corona & lime to Buzzin’ for years or Island in the Sun is your first tango, this show was for you. Shwayze & Cisco played a perfect blend of old and new material. Some songs with the both of them on the mic, some with Cisco on guitar, and some even with the treat of Goodfeather blowing horns in the back.

There was no better way to spend a Wednesday night. Much love to the family over at BananaBeat Records.

Til our next affair,

Hip-Pop *Radical Something, AudioDax, Allen Mask, Lou Williams, Shwayze & Cisco

Five fairly new hip-pop songs from artists on a variety of levels in terms of popularity.

First we go with chill-hop-pop trio Radical Something. It’s hard to define this group but chill is a word that would almost always be used to describe them. Check out a song about my favorite state in the world, “California”.

Radical Something – “California”

AudioDax recently released Pop Rocks (DOWNLOAD), which is full of hip-pop songs. Although I’m not the biggest fan of the mixtape, “Careful Time” has smooth instrumentals, a mix of solid vocals and rapping. Overall a real catchy song.

AudioDax – Careful Time

Next comes a newcomer to BtB, Allen Mask. His song “Radio” is real catchy, rapping is solid, beat is a little basic but overall the hook is fun and gets you dancing.

Allen Mask – Radio ft. SimTraks

Lou Williams, point guard of the Philadelphia 76ers decided to make music while the NBA lockout continues. He pairs up with Dave Patten to create “Slow It Down”. Lou’s rapping is better than Ron Artest’s, Dave Patten‘s hook is fire, overall a fun song and I’m a big fan of the instrumentals and Patten’s vocals.

Lastly we go with the most mainstream artists in this post with Shwayze & Cisco. In June they released “Summertime Music” which is a perfect title as this Summer jam is radio-friendly but also real chill for Summer. In terms of chill-hop, these guys are at the top of the game.

Shwayze – Butterflies (video) x Love Letter (video trailer)

June 8th, 2011 by | Pop |

Recently Shawyze released a music video with Cisco Adler titled “Butterflies”. As they try to make it back to mainstream music level, I think they got lots of talent to make chill hip-pop music that is very catchy. “Butterflies” is off Shwayze/Cisco Adler‘s last mixtape, The W’s.

Recently Shwayze released a music video trailer to “Love Letter”, a song he dropped last year when he changed his artist name briefly to Aaron Smith. However in this new version of the song, he’s got Dev featured on it and The Cataracs are back on it as well. Here’s the full version of the song and the music video trailer is after the jump.

Official Music Video: Aaron Smith – “Can’t Do It Alone”

Aaron Smith – Can’t Do It Alone from Aaron Smith on Vimeo.

Aaron Smith AKA Shwayze recently released a music video to his single “Can’t Do It Alone”. Personally, I like seeing him do more solo work. Nothing against Cisco Adler, but it’s nice to see him succeed on his own.

Whatever happened to Shwayze?

September 17th, 2010 by | Chill/Jam/Reggae, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, R&B |

Q: Did Shwayze break up and go separate ways?
A: No, but Shwayze AKA Aaron Smith along with producer/songwriter Cisco Adler have been working on other projects.
Q: Why haven’t I heard much of this solo music from either of them?
A: Look no further than

After Shwayze released their self-titled debut album in August 2008, they released a mixtape entitled Rich Girls in November ’08 and weren’t heard from much more after that.

Recently Aaron Smith (AKA Shwayze) released a solo mixtape entitled Love Stoned.

Hidden Gem: Tayyib Ali

September 14th, 2010 by | Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap |

This Philly-based rapper has been getting love from a few college music blog’s and after releasing “Sound Check” recently, it’s time we blog about him. He’s young (only 18 years old) but has opened for Shwayze, Sam Adams, and Super Mash Bros. His audience has mostly been from the New England area but hopefully after promoting him on our blog, his exposure will spread across the US.

His first mixtape, Eighteen,  was to drop yesterday (September 13, video trailer above) but got pushed back. However, to hold fans over he released “Sound Check”, which I really like. Enjoy “Sound Check” and “Kid Again”, two of my favorites by Ali.
