Introducing Shane Henry *rock blues infusion

March 15th, 2017 by | Hidden Gem, Rock |

Today I want to introduce you to acclaimed blues rock musician Shane Henry. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Henry has racked up an impressive list of accomplishments opening for such artists as BB King, Etta James, Buddy Guy, Edwin McCain and the Destroyers. His new album is produced in part by in part by David Ryan Harris (John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Santana) and Justin Glasco (The Lone Bellow). Henry’s music has been heard on NBC, CBS, Discovery Channel, Hallmark Channel, and the E! Television network.

Here’s his new single, “Save Me”, off his upcoming album, Light in the Dark (due for release April 28). According to the person who reached out with the song, the upcoming album “boasts songs that effectively reflect an upward gaze while offering hope and comfort in a world where challenges abound and confusion often reigns. A mix of the occasionally dark underbelly, some instantly accessible grooves, a host of ready refrains and fiery fretwork, it carries a persistently uplifting theme throughout.”

Stream “Save Me” below and be on the lookout for Shane Henry’s upcoming album. (more…)

Stream: The Griswolds – Beware The Dog *new indie pop-rock single

May 20th, 2014 by | Alternative/Indie, Pop, Rock |

My favorite up-and-coming Australian band, The Griswolds, released their latest single off their debut album, “Beware The Dog” and it’s so much fun! I love the pop-rock vibe that is just so catchy and sounds a bit tropical, like your dancing on a raft floating down a tropical Amazonian river with exotic animals and tribal people following you along the river dancing and cheering as you are dancing on this raft floating down some exotic river outside your comfort zone.

Stream the new Tony Hoffer (Beck, M83) produced single “Beware The Dog” from The Griswolds below.

I can’t wait for The Griswolds debut album to come out, it’s going to be great!

Video: Chance Waters ft. The Griswolds – Bonnie *indie hip-pop

April 1st, 2014 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video, Pop |

Not sure how to categorize this song but I think it has this hip indie pop-rock feel that is very fun from some awesome Australian musicians in MC Chance Waters and infectious pop-rock band The Griswolds, my favorite emerging pop-rock band in Australia and maybe worldwide!

The video is the perfect companion piece to the multi-talented Chance Waters‘ “Bonnie,” the MC’s collaboration with Sydney indie-poppers The Griswolds. The song blurs lines with pop hooks, harmonies, swathes of live instrumentation and world class production from Adelaide producer One Above (Hilltop Hoods). You can hear elements of Lily Allen crossed with Macklemore, crossed with the jubilation of such modern pop upstarts as Capital Cities.

Watch “Bonnie” below and start singing along to the catchy chorus. Do me a favor and comment below if you know anybody named Bonnie and who is younger than 30 years old. (more…)

Saint Motel – 1997 *lounge pop

May 18th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Pop |

Saint Motel is pleased to announce the release of their debut full-length, Voyeur, due out July 10. In celebration of the release, the band is dropping their latest single, “1997,” for free download. The shimmering track showcases the band’s unique perspective. It’s a playfully-sadistic anecdote about a group of friends sensing the world will end in 1997. The track is an enjoyable composite of sounds, blending together tuneful keyboard strokes and the twang of the guitar with the horn-section and singer A/J Jackson’s soft vocal delivery.

Listen and download “1997” below.

The band will embark on a national headlining tour kicking off on July 12th at San Francisco’s Pop Scene. Additionally, they will be hosting a hometown record release show in Los Angeles at the El Rey Theatre on Saturday, July 14th. Below I’ve listed the rest of their tour dates. (more…)
