SoLo – Electric Playground

April 30th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

I expected a mixtape similar to Sam Adam’s all electronic hip-hop mixtape with the title Electric Playground (Download). Instead SoLo gave us a mixtape more on pop-heavy hip-hop with electronica based melodies.

Overall this mixtape screams catchy, party and fun frat rap, I’m ashamed to like it, yet I do. If you consider SoLo a pop artist with some hip-hop skill, it makes this mixtape feel much better. I think it’s the cool samples that get to me in terms of liking it.

Here’s the highlights of Electric Playground.

Jon Kilmer Studios bangs out new SoLo & Chuck Revere

February 9th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

Jon Kilmer hit me up with two songs that came from his studios and I’m assuming his production. We usually don’t highlight the people behind the artists, but in terms of video production, music production and overall artist management, Jon Kilmer is somebody you should know about.

Below is two of the latest tracks out of Jon Kilmer Studios. First is a new single from SoLo called “P.A.R.T.Y” featuring Jerry Robinson. This is a nice upbeat, feel good, party track.
SoLo – P.A.R.T.Y (feat. Jerry Robinson)
Next Jon Kilmer introduced me to Quinnipiac University student Chuck Revere whose song “Wasted” has a dope Weezer sample and has solid party lyrical flow from Chuck Revere. Play this at your party or pre-game session, fresh guaranteed!

SoLo – Movin Out ft. Young Mel

January 18th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

This is SoLo’s 2nd best track after “Every Morning” and I’m glad he decided upon doing a music video for the song. “Movin’ Out” has really dope production behind not only the song but also the music video. SoLo is one of the better white rappers and I think he’s got a shot at mainstream success with the right team working behind him.

I told you all about SoLo last week. This week he’s got a new music video for “Every Morning” which samples my favorite Sugar Ray song. Enjoy!

Hidden Gem: SoLo

October 7th, 2010 by | Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap |

For SoLo’s 19th birthday, this is the perfect day to do a post on him. From New Jersey, Patrick Jamieson aka SoLo, moved to Long Island and earned the title as one of Long Islands Most Talented Young Hip-Hop Artists.

In late September, SoLo released a mixtape, Out of the Ordinary (download), and below are a couple of my favorites off it. The mixtape is really good with production from 9th Wonder on a track and featuring Na Palm on another track.

Listen and download “Every Morning”, which samples the Sugar Ray song of the same name, and SoLo’s latest single, “Movin’ Out” ft. Young Mel.  SoLo – Movin’ Out (feat. Young Mel) by BeforeBigsZach  SoLo Every Morning by BeforeBigsZach
