STS – “Earthquake” (Featuring Dosage) [Produced by Schoolie V]

February 10th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

He’s back! STS links up with Dosage to give you the visuals for “Earthquake”. This is the newest leak off his upcoming project GoldRush which is due to drop on February 29th. This track is a Tinie Tempah flip and is truly amazing. Both rappers are excellent with their flow, style and lyricism and the beat (produced by Schoolie V) is extremely heart-pounding. Not to mention, the visuals are very professionally done. From what I’ve seen and heard from GoldRush so far, I can already tell that this project is going to be a hit!

STS – Cut Me Off (Gotye “Somebody That I Used To Know” flip)

January 11th, 2012 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap, Music Video |

STS Cut Me Off (Gotye Somebody That I Used To Know flip)I normally hate posting freestyles, but artists like STS are an exception, especially when you attempt to rap over a chill yet emotive alternative song like Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know”.

Fresh off his acclaimed Kavinsky flip, STS stays in international territory and takes on Gotye with his latest release, “Cut Me Off”.

STS – “Something About You” (Gold Rush) [Video]

January 5th, 2012 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Above is a video of STS rapping over Kavinsky‘s smash hit “Nightcall”, which was heard in the feature film Drive. I love the original so much, I listen to it on a regular basis. Adding solid rapping by STS brings more credibility to this track.

This is what STS had to say about the track:

“Inspired by one of 2011′s most critically acclaimed films, Drive, Sugar Tongue Slim turns his recent critical acclaim for The Illustrious into #GOLDRush material while taking Kavinsky’s “NightCall” out for spin into the darker side of the rush.”

Ski Beatz – 24 Hour Karate School Pt. II (Review)

August 11th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

timthumb Ski Beatz 24 Hour Karate School Pt. II (Review)

With all of the hype about Watch the Throne, producer Ski Beatz just released a sick album completely under the radar. 24 Hour Karate School Part II has the same format as its predecessor, where Ski cooks up his typical brand of jazzy, underground hip-hop, then invites some of the game’s fastest up-and-comers over to spit. It’s good shit.

If you remember from the last album, Ski had Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, and Stalley spit, all of whom had tremendous years so far. Ski has been in the game a long time and not only can he create great music, but he’s also serving as a tastemaker to feature artists that he likes, that a lot of people haven’t heard.

24 Hour Karate School part 1 had a few songs that were a little too out there for me, but Mr. Beatz’ latest work is full of solid tracks with none that I want to skip over. Each track features beats that you can’t hear anywhere else except from the man himself, and some of the hottest rappers killing it on each track. Highlights of mine are:

Ski Beatz – Illegal (Ft. Freddie Gibbs)

Ski Beatz – Moon Walkin’ (Ft. STS)

Ski Beatz is definitely a hidden gem in the hip-hop game and I highly recommend everyone go cop the album on itunes and follow the dude on Twitter to support.

STS – Cliche (Prod by the Knux)

July 30th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

STS Cliche (Prod by the Knux)Underground and hidden gem rapper STS just dropped the first single, “Cliche” off his upcoming album album titled The Illustrious. I’m always impressed with STS’s flow and his seriously unique flow over pretty industry standard beats. The beat, produced by The Knux, is chilled out and sparse, but STS goes HAM and absolutely kills it.

STS has been in the game awhile, yet he remains out of the spotlight. Follow the dude on Twitter and Facebook and keep an eye out for The Illustrious.
