As many of you probably already know, Boston hip-hop group The Dean’s List finally released their much anticipated album Generation X at Midnight last night. I was able to listen to it in full today on Spotify and was super impressed. In addition to the album release, the group dropped a music video to one of the singles off Generation X. It is for “Youth” featuring Sid Sriram and the production value of the video is great. Check it out for yourself. Enjoy!
Finally a new track from The Dean’s List. We have been promoting their music for quite a while and though “Hollywood” is not their best track they have ever produced, it is still awesome! It’s off their upcoming project Generation X which is sure to be quite impressive. They have been widely successful off of only two mixtapes. Now this is their chance to take their talents to the next level and I know they will succeed. Generation X is due to drop on April 3rd. In the meantime, enjoy!
Earlier this week, The Dean’s List dropped the visuals for their track “The Dream” which is off their critically-acclaimed mixtape The Drive-In. A solid music video for a legit track is what we’ve expect from this group for a while now. They have been killing it this year, touring the country performing shows and gaining a much larger audience in the process. This group (especially Sonny Shotz) have bright futures ahead of them. Enjoy!
After completing a very successful nationwide tour, The Dean’s List continue on their grind release yet another new track. This time they give us “Unbelievers” which is truly very enjoyable to listen to. I’ve been following these guys for over a year and a half now. I said it then and I’ll say it again, this group is the real deal. They are very talented and only getting better. After seeing them live for the second time a couple weeks back, I knew that this group is going to do big things. Enjoy!
Last Thursday night was a party in Hollywood when the Pledge to Rage Tour stopped at Key Club to put on a great show. iLLie, OnCue and The Dean’s List rocked the place with style making an overall enjoyable show. I have been following these three acts for a long time and to see them all on stage for one event was truly a great experience.
Our night started off we with iLLiE, an alternative hip-hop/rock group from right in Los Angeles. They are small and not very well known. However, after their performance, I believe they gained a handful of new fans. Their unique style and energy really got the crowd interested. My favorite track by them that they performed is “D.G.A.F.” (Don’t Give A Fuck). Enjoy it below:
While Gilbere Forte was performing, we had the honor of interviewing OnCue back stage before his set. They interview will be up on the site later this month but he is a really cool guy and it was a total success. When it was time for him to go on stage, he absolutely lit it up. I always knew he was a very talented rapper but I had way more respect for him and his skills after seeing him live. He reminds me of a young Atmosphere. My all time favorite track by him is “Feel Tall” and that was in my opinion his best song he performed during his set. Enjoy!
Finally, to end the night was the main act, The Dean’s List. As you all know we have been following and promoting this group since pretty much the beginning back in April 2010. As a matter of fact, they are one of the main reasons why we decided to start up this website, to market young up-and-comers such as this hip-hop group. This was only the second time I saw them perform. The first time was back in September 2010, way before their hit mixtape The Drive-In dropped. Now, that I got to hear many of The Drive-In tracks live, I’ve come to even further acknowledge this groups true potential. They got that crowd jumping up and down with lots of energy. Not a dull moment occurred during their set with every song being a huge success. My favorite of theirs was “Dear Professor”. Enjoy!
Upcoming Tour Dates: 11/08 – Portland, Oregon (Roseland Ballroom), 11/09 – Eugene, Oregon (WOW Hall), 11/10 – Washington State University, 11/11 – Seattle, Washington (The Vera Project), 11/16 – Boulder, Colorado (Fox Theatre), 11/18 – Cedar Falls, Iowa (Wheelhouse)
A few new dates added to the Pledge to Rage Tour and with that, so is a new track by The Dean’s List called “Kryptonite Sanity Room” (K.S.R.). Mik Beats and DJ Mendoza once again put together an awesome beat especially with the piano mixed in with all sorts of greatness. Not to mention, Sonny Shotz kills it as usual with his rapping.
For anyone who has been following us, we have been supporting this group from the beginning and they continue to get better with each new track that drops. Their future is super bright and their hard work and dedication is starting to pay off. I cannot wait to seem them perform this track among other great ones of theirs when they come to L.A. on November 3rd. Enjoy!
Earlier today, the visuals to one of my favorite tracks “Burn It All” off The Dean’s List mixtape The Drive-in dropped and it’s a good one folks. I have been a fan of this group ever since I first heard them back in April of 2010 and they just continue to get better and better. This is a sick music video. They give off the mentality that they just want to have fun, party, and not let anything get in their way. I cannot wait to see them at the Key Club in LA with OnCue in November as part of their upcoming “Pledge to Rage Tour”. It should be an awesome time. Enjoy!
Another new Sonny Shotz track and it’s a good one. In this song, Sonny raps over a Bonobo remix which is straight fire. The beat is super laid back but very catchy and enjoyable to listen to, especially with Sonny’s killer lyricism. This kid as well as The Dean’s List continue to improve off each new track they drop and it is only a matter of time before their songs are played all over the radio and they are performing a major music festivals (I’m saying by next summer at the latest). Anyway, enjoy this awesome track, I am positive you will be playing this one a repeat.
Sonny Shotz of The Dean’s List delivers a very laid back track called “Stewed in Sicily” with style. He takes on a Bonobo remix and voila. It is a laid back track which reminds me of a track that you listen to while reflecting back on life! This is definitely a track worth checking out. Enjoy!
Boston’s own The Dean’s List is at it yet again releasing another awesome new track called “All My Troubles”. This is a true party track with a lot of electronic and dubstep influenced beats. There is not much rapping in it but when there is Sonny Shotz kills it as usual. This group can do it all, arranging their style and uniqueness of sound in many different ways. This group is going to get big by the end of this year and I expect everyone to job on their bandwagon. Enjoy!
