Above is a behind the scenes look at The Incomparable Shakespeare’s music video for “Wonderwall”. Here’s what ShakyBaby said about the video:

You get a glimpse of the director Matthew Charof at work. You can also see the director of cinematography, Ryan John Lee doing his thing too.

See the music video here.

In other news, The Incomparable Shakespeare & Jon Solo teamed up once again for another solid indie rap/alternative hip-hop track. They call their collaboration Mix Mssg, which I really like because it fits with how they bring different styles, yet it works great when mixed together.

Here’s the write-up from The Incomparable Shakespeare:

This week’s leak is a special one because it’s actually my lead off/buzz single. It’s part anti-stereotype manifesto, part “eff the establishment”, all the while celebrating academic excellence.

The story behind it is an interesting one. A couple years ago, I was being courted by a bunch of major labels which culminated with a deal on Universal. Before landing the deal, I’d have meetings with A&R;’s who would be like, “you’re dope, but we don’t know what to do with you”. All the while I’d be balancing schoolwork and hustling music. Although things didn’t pan out as I wished, I learned that the industry’s business model is built on competition, not innovation. So instead of chasing the status quo, I began to really embrace the things that made me different. Although I’m 2 years removed from it, graduating Summa Cum Laude is one such thing. So while we often hear about drug dealers, grandiose living or rappers dropping out, I’m the proud graduate! (For the record, although I maintained a 4.0 for several consecutive semesters, my final GPA was a 3.85).

Enjoy!

Jon Solo & The Incomparable Shakespeare

September 28th, 2010 by | Alternative/Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap |

I always look forward to getting a new song as part of The Incomparable Shakespeare’s new music tuesday series because every song sounds different. Here’s what ShakyBaby had to say about his latest song:

It’s week 9 which brings more good music. I previously released a song called “Lonely Start” from an album/project I have with Jon Solo. This week’s song is another from that project. Jon’s an amazing musician/singer/songwriter, and the stuff really crosses genre lines. Here’s “Shades of Honeydew”. As always, thanks for posting the songs week after week.

PS: Please credit it as “Jon Solo & The Incomparable Shakespeare”. Mix Mssg is the official group name, but we’re trying to slowly introduce it as the project builds buzz. If you do mention “Mix Mssg” in the post, please link it to our site.

Below is “Shades of Honeydew” as well as Jon Solo & The Incomparable Shakespeare’s last collaboration, “Lonely Start”.

Incomparable Shakespeare – “Something’s Gotta Give” x “Crack”

September 22nd, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |
Two new songs from The Incomparable Shakespeare. This guy is really cool and his songs have a lot of feeling in them. Below is “Something’s Gotta Give”. Here’s what he had to say about this track:
Week 8 brings “Something’s Gotta Give” (prod. by Graphic) which is an honest and vulnerable explanation to my hiatus last year. Many people asked, “what happened after the buzz of “Skinny Jeans” and “The British Invasion”? I was going through a very tough period personally. So despite the positive momentum, I fell back in order to pull the pieces together. Point is, things are better, I’m great, and its fueled tons of great song ideas and projects!! This happens to be one of them. The song features the homie, Exlib, and he goes in.
