tGJ72 Theophilus London Last Night (LVRS Anthem)

We haven’t heard much from Theophilus London since the release of his debut album Timez Are Weird These Days. However, the first taste off his upcoming sequel to Lovers Holiday know as Lovers Holiday II: Rose Island has come upon us. This track is unique in many ways. With the interesting electronic and hip-hop sound and vocals by TL, I am definitely getting way more excited for what is next from the Brooklyn artist. Enjoy!

Soundcloud’s Best: September *DJ Burnout, Filip Filipi, Smokey Robotic, Ocelot, Aziz

Soundclouds Best: September *DJ Burnout, Filip Filipi, Smokey Robotic, Ocelot, AzizOnce again the five best songs we received through soundcloud are a wide variety but sure to please the ears. Here’s Soundcloud’s Best for September. If you got music we need to hear, submit it to our Soundcloud.

First I wanted to highlight DJ Burnout‘s best mashup he released in September with “One More Hump” which uses Daft Punk‘s “One More Time” on instrumentals mixed with several bumping pop songs that bring the hump. Yikes that sounded kind of gross… get the bumping music on to bring the hump… “One More Hump”!

Next we go with newcomer Filip Filipi with “Big City Chaser” featuring Mansions On The Moon and Work Drugs. It’s got this electronic chill-hop sound, which is real interesting and caught my ear.

Now for a group that if you are not familiar with them yet, you should be as they have a superfuture sound that is slowly catching on. Here’s Smokey Robotic‘s latest, “No Reality”, which features Redman! Haven’t heard from Redman in a while so that’s a great addition to quite an interesting song.

Now for a remix whose original should be on the radio, “I Stand Alone” by Theophilus London. The chill-wave/dubstep remix from Ocelot has been officially approved by Theophilus and is a remix that grows on you even though it isn’t as catchy as the original.

Lastly comes another artist who has a fairly prominent feature on the blog, Aziz. The instrumental produced by No Studio is what caught my ear and the rapping from Aziz goes so well with this banging hip-hop anthem. My only question is, who the fuck is Clay Davis? Well I googled it and found out Clay Davis is a character from HBO’s The Wire and he was known for saying ”sheeeeee-it,” which the song ends with. I enjoy the song a bit more now knowing that.

Video: Theophilus London – I Stand Alone + Gigamesh remix

Theophilus London I Stand Alone Jimmy Kimmel Live Video: Theophilus London I Stand Alone + Gigamesh remixMy all-time favorite song from Theophilus London has been made into a music video! Although we lost some interest after seeing Theophilus London live, he still makes quality music and I wouldn’t be surprised if he achieves similar success to Kid Cudi in the future.

“I Stand Alone” is a song that deserves radio play which will probably happen once HBO’s How To Make It In America begins. Most of the promo’s for the show have included this song, and just as Entourage introduced the world to Kid Cudi’s “Day N Nite”, HTMIIA will do the same for “I Stand Alone.”

Review: Theophilus London at Amoeba Music Hollywood

TL 600x358 Review: Theophilus London at Amoeba Music Hollywood

As you know, I have been looking very forward to Theophilus London‘s debut album Timez Are Weird These Days to drop and after it finally did, I heard of a free show that he was going to do at the infamous Amoeba record store in Hollywood and I had to attend. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in his performance for many reasons. He seemed way more into how he looked than the way he performed on stage. There were many times where you couldn’t even hear him rapping and singing. The instrumentals were way too loud that it covered up his voice. He appeared to be on lots of drugs because he could barely stand and speak. As a matter of fact there was a moment when he stopped a song half way through and started another one. There were also times when he just let his song play out and he just stood there. Pretty odd if you ask me.

Not all of it was his fault though. It was in a record store and not a legitimate music venue which means the sound quality and stage set up were not the best. Also he had been promoting his album all week on talk shows, music venues and many more which means he was likely very worn out and just needed a rest.

Besides all of this, I still really enjoy his album and think it will be very successful. I do feel that he needs to work on his stage presence a lot better though if he wants to remain in the music business for the long term. However, I guess I cannot be too upset considering it was a free show. Check out some of my favorite tracks that he performed. Enjoy!

We’ve been repping Theophilus London‘s music for quite sometime. So it is essential that we bring you all the new tracks by him fast. This time we have the much anticipated FULL VERSION of “I Stand Alone”. We first heard a preview of it when the How To Make It In America Season 2 teaser trailer dropped as it was the background song for it.

After hearing the full version. I continue to become impressed with the Brooklyn native’s talent as he quickly gains popularity. He brings and old school with a twist of 21st century flash to create an awesome sound. He is actually a pretty solid singer as well.

This is off his upcoming debut album Timez Are Weird These Days which drops on July 19th. Enjoy!
