Tic Tic Boom! – Before The Sun Rises EP

April 6th, 2012 by | Album/Mixtape/EP Review, Alternative/Indie, Electronic Rock, Rock |

Before The Sun Rises 600x598 Tic Tic Boom! Before The Sun Rises EPAlternative electronic rock band Tic Tic Boom! released their latest project, Before The Sun Rises EP. After having seen the Tic Tic Boom! live and meeting the leaders of the band, Mike and Leilani, I knew this is a band you need to keep an eye on. They are a Foster The People Torches type of release away from breaking out, although their sound is much different than those indie rockers.

Stream and download the latest EP from Tic Tic below. My favorites are “For Feeling” (which is FREE) and “Bees”. This isn’t my favorite work from the band as it doesn’t have as many upbeat sounds that attract me to indie acts. Nonetheless still has a couple of enjoyable tracks and shows their potential for indie success.

Tic Tic Boom! – For Feeling *alternative electronic rock

Tic Tic Boom! For Feeling *alternative electronic rockWoah, Tic Tic Boom! music continues to evolve and change with every new tune they put out. Their latest track, “For Feeling” has a banging instrumentals that mix electric guitar riffs, slick synths and a drums to keep the song rocking. I’m a huge fan of Tic Tic Boom! and I’m not saying this because I have met the band and observed a meeting with their management back in 2011. I’m a fan of this band because of their genre-blending sound mixing alternative, rock and electronic.

Listen and download “For Feeling” below.

Last night at The Echo in Silverlake, I saw a slew of awesome musicians. K.Flay, Lesands, The Chain Gang of 1974 and Tic Tic Boom! all rocked the place with style. The show was special in the fact that it consisted of artists and groups on a wide range of genres and not one specific type of music and it was Chain Gang’s last night of their residency at The Echo.

It varied from a female rapper with great electronic beats, indie and alternative rock, and more. Even though it was on a Monday night and the crowd wasn’t as large as I expected, the show was still amazing. Enjoy my favorite tracks from the show below!

Foster the People & Grouplove remixes galore!

September 22nd, 2011 by | Alternative/Indie, Pop, Remix, Rock |

foster+grouplove Foster the People & Grouplove remixes galore! So I got 5 remixes for you, two are for Grouplove‘s suddenly popular “Colours”, which has gotten mainstream radio play and seems to be heading for the popularity “Pumped Up Kicks” has been garnering ever since it was released in January 2010. Here’s two catchy fun covers to “Colours”, one from Xaphoon Jones of Chiddy Bang and the other from Foster the People.

Next we got to three remixes to “Pumped Up Kicks”. The first is from indie buzzband Tic Tic Boom!, who I recently had the opportunity to meet. They are quite talented, will become really popular after showcases at CMJ and SXSW and have an EP slated for early 2012 release in between those two showcases. This remix reminds me of RAC remixes, minimalistic indie-type remix which takes the song in a different direction.

Not sure if Foster the People remixed “Colours” first or if Grouplove remixed “Pumped Up Kicks” first but I think it’s awesome they basically swapped songs to remix. Grouplove gets Captain Cuts on board in this “Pumped Up Kicks” remix turning it into a real chill dance remix. Once again, taking it in a completely different direction, making this version of “Pumped Up Kicks” accessible to dance to.

Lastly alternative hip-hop/rock/funk band T.I.M.E., which we featured in our March edition of Soundcloud’s Best, recently hit us up with their music video cover/remix to “Pumped Up Kicks”. It’s chill but you can clearly hear the bands sound throughout their version of “Pumped Up Kicks”, which hardly sounds like a cover and more like an original from T.I.M.E.
