British artist A2ZEE recently dropped a music video for his single “Thriller Remix” featuring Triple J, Tarik, Hollywood, Riley &  Drake.

Hidden Gem: Justin W

January 14th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, R&B |

I knew about rapper and producer Justin W at least a month now thanks to Hype Floats, but hadn’t really enjoyed his tracks until recently. Justin W has a unique style and it’s hard to compare his music to many other aritsts although you can tell he has the potential to become a mainstream star.

I took notice when he produced a song called “I’m On It” featuring Triple J, which has a crazy good beat. Then I did a little research and found there are a couple more I like from Maryland-born artist Justin W.

Best You Never Heard II: Fall/Winter edition

December 30th, 2010 by | Alternative/Indie, Before Bigs Exclusive, Daily Mix, Dance, Hip-Hop/Rap, Mashup, Pop, R&B, Remix, Rock |

It’s that time of the year where we would like to give back. Sometimes I feel we don’t give back to our readers enough and we are working to fix that in 2011. Until then, here’s a mixtape we created.

It’s called Best You Never Heard II, which is a mixtape showcasing some of the best up-and-coming talent in music from the last several months. It’s a collection of 20 songs of mostly hip-hop with a little bit of rock, pop, R&B and mashups/remixes (much like our site’s content).

Listen to the mixtape below, and download through mediafire.

Triple J ft. Langesta – Faded

December 15th, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

New track from Triple J, lead rapper of The Band Eclypse and The 16th Seed. Hes got lots of talent and after hearing this song, it should further prove my point that he is going to get much more recognition once his next project, “Tequila Mockingbird” drops on February 8th.

Triple J – Faded (Feat. Langesta)

From now on until the project’s release date, Triple J will be putting out a piece of content on a weekly basis. Check Triple J out on facebook.

Hidden Gem: The 16th Seed

November 2nd, 2010 by | Alternative/Indie, Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

I’m a big fan of The Band Eclypse and much like I said yesterday with the new Triple J song, I enjoy almost every song that The Band Eclypse and their side/solo projects drop, which includes Triple J (solo), LED (solo) and The 16th Seed (LED and Triple J side project).

Below are three of my favorites from The 16th Seed (from newest to oldest).

Triple J – Big Deal

November 1st, 2010 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

Triple J from The Band Eclypse just dropped a new track, “Big Deal”. I love The Band Eclypse and anything new from Triple J, LED or any other side project from the band, I’m going to download it.

Triple J – Big Deal (Prod. By Langesta)

Bonus: Xaphoon Jones made two remixes to Ellie Goulding’s “Under The Sheets”. The second one Chiddy Bang used but Xaphoon Jones put out the first one he made, with instrumentals. Triple J then attempted to rap over it, and succeeded.

Hidden Gem: Triple J

We talked about upcoming genre-blending act, The Band Eclypse before. But we haven’t talked about on of their MC’s, Triple J. He’s talented and brings a fresh look to the hip hop scene. Once The Band Eclypse get’s big (let’s say 2011), many more people are going to recognize Triple J.
In June, Triple J put out a free mixtape, Of Mics And Men. It’s an underrated mixtape with several tracks we at Before the Bigs really enjoy.
Download Triple J’s Of Mics and Men (mixtape)

If your not convinced, listen and download “Caught Up”, “PursuIT” and “Tribute”.

Hidden Gem: The Band Eclypse

September 2nd, 2010 by | Alternative/Indie, Hidden Gem, Hip-Hop/Rap, Remix |

If Mike Posner likes this group, you know that BeforeBigs.com is going to like them. The Band Eclypse is an 8-member band featuring two very talented rappers (Triple J and The 16th Seed) a singer (Jamie Ballan), and 5 very talented instrumentalists.

The Band Eclypse have been covering recently popular songs (“Day N’ Nite” & “Opposite of Adults”) but they don’t just cover these songs. They put their own flavor on it, much like Chiddy Bang & Hoodie Allen.

Listen and download “Day N’ Nite remix”, “Opposite of Adults Remix” and an original from them, “Break the Sky”.
