It’s been too long since we blogged about J. Cole, especially considering all this music of his has been dropping left and right. He seriously is going to blow up as he has this raw swagger in his flow and you can feel the lyrics. Once his untitled debut album drops, still TBA, I see his popularity soaring. So here’s five of J. Cole’s latest songs that I especially enjoy.
Work Out (confirmed single off debut album, MUST-DOWNLOAD)
Return of Simba
Disgusting (prod. by J. Cole) (dope beat, silly lyrics, Kanye West?)
See It To Believe It
Remember Saigon? The rapper that Turtle from Entourage managed briefly. Saigon got some decent hype from the songs played on the show, however most people haven’t heard much of him since. Most of the reason to that is his debut album has taken forever to come out.
Well after several years of recording songs for his label debut album, Greatest Story Never Told, it’s finally expected to drop February 22, 2011.
Below is the first leak off the album. I really like the guitar elements and the lyrics from Saigon.
Blackout 101 is a young alternative Rock/Punk band hailing from the suburbs of Los Angeles, CA. Drawing influence from bands such as The Arctic Monkeys, Green Day, and The Bravery amongst others, the band’s sound is constantly progressing and the best way to experience the band in its true form is in a live setting. The self released EP “A Work In Progress” from late 2008 has earned the band many fans via myspace streaming, live concerts, interviews, word of mouth, etc. Expect their debut album to be released early 2011.
Here are a couple songs that will be on the upcoming album (sorry tracks aren’t mastered yet for downloading).

We all have heard of the Far East Movement with their hit single “Like a G6″ sweeping the globe in recent months. However, their upcoming debut album “Free Wired”, which is set to release this Tuesday will prove even more that they guys are here to stay.

Ski Beatz has been in the hip-hop industry since 1989 and has worked with artists such as Jay-Z in his early work, rap duo Camp Lo, Fat Joe, Foxy Brown, Lil’ Kim, Joell Ortiz and up-and-coming rapper Curren$y.
In 2010, he decided to release his debut album as an artist, entitled 24 Hour Karate School, which drops tomorrow. I have heard three tracks from it and they are all really good songs with features from Jim Jones and Curren$y, Mos Def, and Jay Electronica among others.
Here are two of my favorites off the upcoming album; “Go” and “I Got Mines”.
Hoodie Allen dropped one more song today for his fans before the release of his debut album, Pep Rally, dropping tomorrow (Sept. 21).
The song has a nice chill melody, great vocals from VV Brown on the chorus (Hoodie samples VV Brown’s “Shark In The Water” for the song. As usual some great rapping from Hoodie Allen to make for a great track. This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite up-and-coming artists and I look forward to seeing him live October 1 at The Roxy in Los Angeles.
