An Incredible Weekend at Coachella (Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Performance)

April 19th, 2012 by | Concert/Festival Review, Hip-Hop/Rap |

We’ve saved the best for last! As many of you already know, Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre closed off an incredible weekend at Coachella. It was such a big deal that I had to make a separate post for just this set. So many great rappers made guest appearances with the hip-hop legends. The names include, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Warren G and most notably the famous Tupac hologram.

This was by far the best live performance I have ever seen. Not only am I a huge fan of hip-hop and grew up listening to many of these great artists, but seeing them all live on stage was something I will never forget.

The Tupac hologram which the whole world knows about by now looked so realistic live. It appeared that he was actually there performing “America’s Most Wanted” with Snoop Dogg. Apparently, the movements, look, and overall Tupac hologram performance was copied from a show he did at the House of Blues in Hollywood back in 1995. The only thing different was that instead of saying “What’s Up LA?!”, the people behind the creation of the hologram changed it to “What’s Up Coachella?!” with his voice sounding exactly the same. It was truly and incredible process and something I feel is going to catch on at other festivals and shows with other dead artists very soon.

Below are my favorite tracks from the entire performance. For those of you going for Weekend 2, you are in for quite a treat. Please go to this performance on Sunday night instead of Avicii. Nothing against Avicii, he is great; however, he is always traveling the United States and it is extremely rare to see all these great rappers on one stage at the same time, especially with that Tupac hologram. I am sure that the people who went to the Avicii performance regret it. Don’t be one of those people. Enjoy!

Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa – “Smokin’ On” (featuring Juicy J)

December 5th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Once again, another awesome collaboration by Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa. This time it’s “Smokin’ On” (featuring Juicy J). Unfortunately it is the clean version but regardless, it is an awesome hip-hop track. Wiz and Snoop continue to show that they make an awesome duo and I hope to hear more tracks like this by them in the near future. Enjoy!

Hip-Pop *Terrace Martin, Mr.Robotic, Tru Fam, Lil Playy, V.V. Brown

October 26th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop |

Here’s five fairly new songs that can fall under a category not completely in hip-hop but can’t be put into pop either, we call it Hip-Pop a music category we have defined with many songs blogged about on here.

First we got Terrace Martin with “Do It Again”, a song made for radio with features from Kendrick Lamar & Wiz Khalifa on it. I’m loving the instrumentals, lyrics don’t really catch me too much. Overall a solid cruising song. DOWNLOAD

Next we got Mr.Robotic with “Material Girl”. No this isn’t a cover of the Madonna song nor is it as catchy as her song. But this “Material Girl” is a solid song worth a listen. Plus my new favorite female singer, Jesse Palter is featured on the track. DOWNLOAD

Next we got Tru Fam with “Rebound Master” which at first sounds like an ordinary song but then picks up into something real fun and catchy when they get to the hook,
Catch me now because I’m fallin’ I’m fallin’
That’s the part that will get singing along. Enjoy “Rebound Master”. DOWNLOAD

Next we got a feature from Chiddy of Chiddy Bang! Pop up-and-comer V.V. Brown has a catchy pop/hip-hop song called “Children (Keep On Singing)”. This song will be on hip-hop/pop radio soon hopefully. I’m loving that catchy ice-cream truck sample to open it with such a feel good pumping beat and the british accent is a little sexy. Stars in the making! DOWNLOAD

Lastly a song I came across through one of those youtube suggestions when I was watching another song. I actually clicked the youtube suggestion being bored and really dug the song from Lil Playy and Matthew Koma. It’s a song that would get on the radio if these artists had a major label to help get them on there. DOWNLOAD

Black and Jewish (Black and Yellow Parody) from Kat Graham

Actresses Kali Hawk (Bridesmaids) and Katerina “Kat” Graham (Vampire Diaries) get together to create “Black and Jewish” a parody of Wiz Khalifa‘s “Black and Yellow”. They pay tribute to all the famous people such as Drake, Lenny Kravitz, and Rashida Jones who are all Black and Jewish. This music video was posted by and it is absolutely funny. Definetly check it out. Enjoy!

Wale update *5 new songs!

July 24th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Wale has been making lots of new music in the past couple months. Love how most of Wale‘s latest songs have been upbeat and/or the rapping is off the hook! Even though Wale is working under my least favorite rapper in Rick Ross, I still think Wale can still have that quality sound he showed in his mixtapes and his debut album.

Here’s five songs that we haven’t blogged about yet that you hopefully haven’t heard yet. Wale‘s upcoming album, Ambition, drops November 1st through Warner Bros. Records.

Wale – Globetrotter ft. 2 Chainz

Wale – Bad Girls Club ft. J. Cole

Trae Tha Truth – I’m On ft. Lupe Fiasco, Big Boi, Wale, Wiz Khalifa & MDMA (5-star!)

Wale – Bait ft. TCB

Wale – Lacefrontin (one of my favorite new Wale songs)

Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y and Big Sean – “Flowers”

July 21st, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, and Big Sean get together to create “Flowers” an awesome new chill-relaxed hip-hop track. This song has a simple, old school beat to it with fantastic rapping by all three artists who have been quite busy lately releasing all sorts of new tracks which gets their fans very excited. I expect to see more out of this collaboration in the near future. in the meantime, enjoy this laid-back song.

July 13th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

Chevy Woods collaborates with Wiz Khalifa once again to create an awesome new laid back hip-hop track called “Crazy”. Both rappers do a great job with their flow and lyricism and Big Jerm is on the boards so you know it’s going to be an awesome beat. This is a great track to just sick back and chill to. Enjoy!

French Montana – Shot Caller

June 17th, 2011 by | Hip-Hop/Rap |

If you don’t know about French Montana, now is the time to educate yourself. Mr. Montana has been flying under the radar for a long time, and he was actually signed by Akon’s Konvict Music Group, but he left due to album delays. He’s actually reportedly close to a deal with Maybach Music Group, which would be huge for the dude.

“Shot Caller” has a jazzy beat produced by Harry Fraud, but it has a real Ski Beatz feel to it. The flow is nice, and the song serves as a smoked out street anthem, a lot like Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa.

Follow French Montana on Facebook and Twitter and go on datpiff and get his mixtapes. Get in the know.
