I wish somebody told me which tracks on the XXL Magazine 2011 Freshman mixtape were good because most of them had gun shots, DJ shout outs and sub-par rapping (thanks YG, Lil Twist, Fred the Godson and Lil B). However here’s the few good songs off the mixtape:
Mac Miller – Futuristic Funk (Prod by Teddy Roxpin)
Kendrick Lamar – Outrageous
Meek Mill – I’m Not A Star
Meek Mill – Professional Money Getta
Besides these tracks the best part of the mixtape might be the three cyphers featuring all the rappers so I do suggest to Download the mixtape. Here’s the tracklist to see all the nonsense on this mixtape.

A month before it’s official release, the XXL Magazine Freshman 2011 cover art leaked with the list of 11 up-and-coming hip-hop artists featured on the cover. The artists on the cover are Meek Mill, Big K.R.I.T., Cyhi The Prynce, Lil Twist, Yelawolf, Fred The Godson, Mac Miller, YG, Lil B, Kendrick Lamar, and Diggy Simmons.

My 3 favorite choices are Big K.R.I.T., Diggy Simmons and Mac Miller. What are your thoughts? Any major snubs (I got a few)? Let us know in the comments, chat box, facebook or twitter.

We would love to hear your feedback since we are putting out our own 11 hip-hop artists to break out in 2011 in early March with a mixtape of all the artists best songs. Don’t want to give you any hints but at least 1-2 artists on XXL Magazine’s list will be on our list.
