The New Guy’s First Post: Duck Sauce

Hello readers,
My name is Adrian, and I will be your guide to electronic music on this blog. You can find out more about me in my bio but I feel I should introduce myself a little at least.

The majority of readers probably don’t care where I grew up or what boring major I have. So instead I have compiled a list of all the major electronic music acts I’ve seen over my years as my credentials, which is probably what you guys care more about anyway.

Boys Noize, Laidback Luke, Erol Alkan, Diplo, Shadow Dancer, D.I.M., LA Riots, Green Velvet, DJ Dan & Donald Glaude, Deadmau5, Moderat, 2manyDJs, The Bloody Beetroots, Danger, DJ Mehdi, A-trak, Kaskade, Pendulum, Groove Armada, ATB, Benny Benassi , Fedde le Grand, Above and Beyond, Rank 1, Armin Van Buuren, Fake Blood, Simian Mobile Disco, Computer Club, Yoji, Crystal Method, Marcus Schultz, Pendulum, Jack Beats, Boy 8-Bit, Carte Blanche, Bingo Players, Dada Life, Bart B More, Congorock, Dirty South, Swedish House Mafia, Z-Trip, Wolfgang Gartner, Afrojack, Basement Jaxx, Armand Van Helden, Moby, Duck Sauce, Harvard Bass, Surkin, Brodinski, SonicC, Chris Lake, 12th Planet, Daedalus, Riva Starr, Treasure Fingers, The Twelves, Breakbot, Proxy, Tiga, Flying Lotus, Digitalism, Soulwax, DJ Sneak, Chromeo, and THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS.

As you can see from this list, I am much more inclined towards house and electro, but I will do my best to introduce my readers to a wide variety of electronic music genres.

Today I will be introducing you to Duck Sauce, a disco-house collaboration between two very skilled producers/DJs, Armand Van Helden and A-trak. This collaboration is relatively new (about a year old), but has absolutely taken the electronic world by storm with their funky beats.

They don’t have many songs because of this, but every release has been pure quality. Enjoy!

XXL Freshman 2011 (cover) + website news

A month before it’s official release, the XXL Magazine Freshman 2011 cover art leaked with the list of 11 up-and-coming hip-hop artists featured on the cover. The artists on the cover are Meek Mill, Big K.R.I.T., Cyhi The Prynce, Lil Twist, Yelawolf, Fred The Godson, Mac Miller, YG, Lil B, Kendrick Lamar, and Diggy Simmons.

My 3 favorite choices are Big K.R.I.T., Diggy Simmons and Mac Miller. What are your thoughts? Any major snubs (I got a few)? Let us know in the comments, chat box, facebook or twitter.

We would love to hear your feedback since we are putting out our own 11 hip-hop artists to break out in 2011 in early March with a mixtape of all the artists best songs. Don’t want to give you any hints but at least 1-2 artists on XXL Magazine’s list will be on our list.

In other news, you may noticed a related posts widget we added on individual posts. We’re still working on it and hoping that our complete redesign will be done by March.

Kanye West – All Of The Lights (video)

Colors! One word to describe why this video is so interesting is how colorful it is. Once again Kanye West gives us a music video with amazing colorful visuals, lots of quick cuts and most of the lyrics to the song in a very interesting way. Plus Rihanna looks hot in that outfit and Kanye West looks pretty bad ass rapping on top of a cop car. If I had the video on mute or couldn’t hear the music, I would still be tuned in by how intriguing this video is. Download

Speaking of Rihanna, if you are looking for Rihanna tickets, visit Big Ticket Shop for the best prices. Although I’ve never seen her live, I heard she does a smashing show with dancers and a big band.

Moufy, out of Boston, has just dropped his newest single. It’s called “Twist it and Light it” and its the second leak of the Moufy mixtape which drops on February 21st. This track is a very laid back one which is great to smoke a blunt to (hence the name). Enjoy!

Download: Moufy – “Twist it and Light it”
Here’s the song Moufy released last week that has a more upbeat feel to it, still chill though.
